Performing a Version 3 Update (with Internet Connection)
Click on the link, Version 3 Updater to run the latest update for all the Version 3 programmers installed on this machine. This update program will download only the files that are needed on your system.
This Updater requires an Internet connection for access to the current files. When the Windows Security Warning screen appears, click the Run button.
Click Continue or Run to any other Windows message that appears asking for permissions.
The main screen of the Updater will appear listing the files that need to be updated. Click Update to continue.
Click Update. The process keeps you informed as it runs and lets you know when it's finished.
Note: Firewalls and antivirus programs can interfere with this update process. If you get an error regarding the Internet connection (Cannot connect to the int...) you will need to proceed differently for the update. Either disable the firewall or antivirus software while you complete this process or use the link below.
Performing a Version 3 Update on a computer WITHOUT Internet connection.
If the Version 3 programmer that you need to upgrade is on a computer that is not connected to the Internet the update files are available here to download to any media that can be easily transported to and run on that machine. This is a rather large file so download time may be lengthy.
This update can be used without saving. If an error occurs with the "connected" update process regarding the Internet connection, run this update selecting "Run" from the Windows Security Warning screen. The process will be completed automatically once the files are downloaded.
When the Windows Security Warning screen opens click Save.
Follow the prompts to save the file to appropriate media. This file can be run from CD, across a network, or from a thumb drive. Any media that is convenient for you to use on the receiving machine.
Once at the machine with the Version 3 Programmer to be updated, run Version3Update.exe from the media where the file resides.
Note: You do not have to save these
updates in anticipation of reinstalling the Programmer in the
future. Each update is complete to the latest version. If you do reinstall at some time in the future from the original CD, simply run the update available at the time. All the files will be updated to current at once.
Performing a Version 3 Update on a Version 2 Programmer.
Programmer updates are available at no charge within a major version (i.e., Version 2 updates for Version 2 programmers.... Version 3 updates for Version 3 programmers.) To determine which the correct update for your system, check Help | About from the main screen of the programmer. The first number of the Version number shown indicates the major version.
To update from a Version 2 to a Version 3 of the same programmer, order the software for that radio from the sales page of this site. You do not again have to order cables.
If your purchase of the programmer was from an authorized Yaesu radio dealer within 90 days and you received a Version 2 programmer for one that is already in Version 3, contact RT Systems with a copy of that receipt for details on upgrading to the current version.
